genU HQ in Geelong is an office, community and training hub for a not for profit disability services provider.
Mass timber construction has garnered a great deal of attention when constructing tall buildings. Tall wood buildings are now popping up in Europe, Canada and Australia; with Docklands Library Melbourne, Daramu House & International House in Barangaroo, Sydney and 25 King Street in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
The GenU HQ now joins this acclaimed list and achieves 5-star targeted excellence in Green Star Design and a 5-star NABERS Energy Rating. Designed by NOW Architecture the building features a hybrid mass timber and lightweight timber roof structure, with exposed timber column capitals and full height timber windows that enclose a 3-storey void highlighting the multifaceted staircase and balustrade.
